Kids going Outrageous at summer camp 2012!

Easily the biggest week of summer camp each year is Camp Outrageous. Kids from all over Central New York descend on Vanderkamp to put together a week of camp that is really unlike anything else out there. Our sole mission during Camp Outrageous is to realize what it would be like if everyone just “let their hair down” and did exactly what was in their heart, instead of worrying about all of the pressures that can creep into our lives from the outside world.

Whether we were building pillow forts, or having a blast in the lake, or building an ALIEN FORTRESS(!) in the woods, we made sure that everyone felt included, and that everyone was showered with Christ-like love. Fueled by incredible energy from this year’s Leaders in Training, every day brought new adventures and lifelong friendships.

One staple of Camp Outrageous has become backwards day… where kids’ creativity shines as they try to figure out how to do just about EVERYTHING backwards – from walking, to talking, to eating, to playing games. So if you come to summer camp on backwards day, please don’t be surprised if you are greeted with a “good evening” at 9 AM, or wind up eating spaghetti for breakfast!
