Summer Operation Hours (June 18 – August 17, 2018):

  • Community Center & Library are CLOSED due to summer kamps… will re-open August 18th! See you then!
  • Trails remain open to public dawn to dusk daily… visitors must check-in with Vanderkamp Staff in Main Office weekdays and just sign in (as usual) on Saturday or before noon on Sunday.
  • Lake access for fishing CLOSED weekdays and dawn to dusk on Saturdays. No boat rental requests before 8 am please & thank you! 

All are Welcome! Youth under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. No residency requirements. Groups asked to contact Vanderkamp prior to visit.

Vanderkamp Center, Cleveland, NY expands access to the public with the opening of the Commons Building as a Community Center. Come experience all that Vanderkamp offers including rich, local history; natural scenic beauty; and an abundance of indoor and outdoor recreation and leisure opportunities for people of all ages and interests. Visit the Commons Community Center weekdays from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and through 4:00 pm on Fridays. There is plenty to do for the entire family. The Fireplace Room provides a comfortable and relaxing space for gathering, crafting, playing games, or reading. There is a Kids Zone with unique play spaces, toys, and games. There are games for older youth and adults as well, like table tennis or foosball. Free WiFi is available. Enjoy reading books or magazines from our library or take them home. Gather with people who share your interests by joining an existing club or starting your own. What is your passion… snowshoeing, nature photography, birding, crafting… something else?


Visitors are welcome to explore Vanderkamp’s 850 acres of fields, forests, and meadows with miles of trails for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Use your own equipment or rent cross-country skis, boots and poles for $5 per person/per day. Youth and adult sizes available. Never skied before? We’ll even throw in a quick lesson. Snowmobiles are not permitted on any Vanderkamp trails, ensuring a safe and tranquil experience regardless of age or skill. Vanderkamp permits sledding on Cherry Hill and ice fishing on a 45 acre private lake. Equipment is not provided. Informed Consent Forms/Waivers must be signed before the activity and youth under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult while sledding or fishing. When you have finished, you are welcome to warm yourselves in the Fireplace Room with a hot beverage.


Though no admission fee is charged, donations are requested to help fund this new Vanderkamp Kares community initiative. Vanderkamp is a private, nonprofit organization, funded by the generous donations of those who support its ministry and mission and revenue generated by our summer kamps, programs, and facility rentals. The Commons Community Center is available to everyone, regardless of residency. You need not live in Cleveland, Constantia, or along the North Shore. Youth under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult while visiting Vanderkamp. Groups are asked to contact Vanderkamp to schedule an outing.
